Michael Strahan Announces His Retirement
...posted by Gary Grund...
Giants defensive end Michael Strahan has called it a career.
According to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com, Strahan made this statement…
“It was important that my teammates knew which way I was going before they got on the field to start the work to defend our title. It’s time. I’m done. It’s a tough decision but I wanted to be fair to the Giants and fair to my teammates.”
Strahan finishes with a career line of 852 tackles, 141.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, 24 forced fumbles and 37 passes deflected. He is 5th on the NFL’s All-Time Sack list behind Bruce Smith, Reggie White, Kevin Greene and Chris Doleman.
An interesting note here on Strahan and former Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor. The NFL did not start counting sacks as an official stat until the 1982 season. During Taylor’s rookie season in 1981, he recorded 9.5 sacks, but it was not counted. His career line puts him at 132.5 sacks. If the those 9.5 sacks were added to his current sack total, Taylor would still currently be the New York Giants All-Time Sack leader with 142 sacks, with Strahan at 141.5.
Nonetheless, see you in Canton, Michael.

Good Luck Stray and thanks for the memories.
He brought the G-men to the promised land and is going out on top. He claims to be constantly in pain so I wish him the best! You will be missed Mike!
A great Giant ends his career on top. I am going to miss seeing him terrorize Eagle’s linemen.
So I guess Kiwanuka is the D-end now, and Osi is going to be getting some of that Strahan money.
